Chinese Scholarship Programs for Bangladesh

China is one of the most popular destinations for international students because it offers a wide range of scholarships through government bodies, universities, and provincial authorities. These scholarships cover different levels of study such as Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD, and are available in almost all academic fields including Engineering, Business, Medicine, and Arts. With affordable living costs and globally recognized degrees, China has become an attractive option for higher education abroad.

1. Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC)

The China Scholarship Council offers the Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC), which is the most popular and fully funded option for international students, including those from Bangladesh. It supports Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD programs across almost all universities in China.

Coverage:

  • Full tuition fee
  • Free university accommodation
  • Monthly stipend:
    • Bachelor: 2,500 – 3,000 RMB
    • Master’s: 3,000 – 3,500 RMB
    • PhD: 3,500 – 4,000 RMB
  • Comprehensive medical insurance

Eligible Majors: Almost all majors are eligible, including Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Medicine, Arts, and Social Sciences.

2. Confucius Institute Scholarship

The Confucius Institute provides this scholarship mainly for students who want to study Chinese language and culture. It is ideal for those planning careers related to teaching Chinese or cultural exchange.

Coverage:

  • Full or partial tuition fee
  • Accommodation support
  • Monthly stipend:
    • Usually 2,500 – 3,000 RMB (depending on program level)
  • Medical insurance

Eligible Majors: Chinese Language, Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, Chinese Culture-related studies.

3. Provincial Government Scholarships

Many Chinese provinces like Beijing and Shanghai offer their own scholarships, such as the Beijing Municipal Government Scholarship and Shanghai Government Scholarship. These scholarships are offered directly by provincial governments and universities.

Coverage:

  • Full or partial tuition fee
  • Sometimes accommodation support
  • Monthly stipend:
    • Usually 1,500 – 3,000 RMB (varies by province and university)

Eligible Majors: Most majors are eligible, especially Engineering, Business, IT, Environmental Science, and Management.

4. Belt and Road Scholarship

This scholarship is designed for students from countries involved in China’s Belt and Road initiative, including Bangladesh. It focuses on developing skilled professionals for international cooperation.

  • Monthly stipend:
    • Around 2,500 – 3,500 RMB
  • Medical insurance

Eligible Majors: Engineering, Infrastructure-related studies, International Business, Economics, Transportation, and Energy-related fields.

 

China scholarships are open to international students, including Bangladeshi applicants, who meet certain academic, age, and language requirements. These criteria may slightly vary depending on the university and scholarship type, but the general requirements are as follows:

Eligibility & Qualification:

  • Must be a non-Chinese citizen with a valid passport
  • Bachelor’s Program: HSC / A-Level completed (minimum GPA 3.0–3.5 recommended)
  • Master’s Program: Bachelor’s degree completed (CGPA 3.0+ preferred)
  • PhD Program: Master’s degree required
  • Age Limit:
    • Bachelor: under 25 years
    • Master’s: under 35 years
    • PhD: under 40 years
  • Language Requirement:
    • English programs: IELTS (5.5–6.5) or equivalent
    • Chinese programs: HSK Level 4–5
